Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a psychologist?
No, I'm a counsellor, not a psychologist. Quirky Compass sits outside the clinical space. I don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions. What I offer is real, structured support for navigating life: stress, overwhelm, big transitions, identity, figuring out what's next. If you're looking for clinical treatment or a formal diagnosis, a psychologist or your GP is the right place to start, and I'm happy to help point you in the right direction if that's what you need.
What approach or techniques do you use?
I'm trained in and draw on a range of techniques, including cognitive behavioural, solution-focused, and strengths-based approaches. I tailor what's used to what's actually helpful for you at each stage, rather than following a one-size-fits-all method. This is a living, breathing process, not a static paint-by-numbers thing.
How directive are you?
This is your process. My job is to build your capacity, not your dependency on me. Everything we work on is something you'll be able to take and use independently.
How long will we work together?
There's no set number. Some people come for a few sessions around one specific transition, others stay longer to work through something bigger. The plan stays flexible throughout, and it's shaped around what works for you, not a fixed structure I set in advance. We'll check in together as we go and adjust as your needs change.
Can I work with you if I don't live in the Netherlands?
Yes, I work with clients all over the world — the only places I'm currently unable to take on clients are the United States and Canada.
What can I expect as a new client?
Most new clients start with around four weekly sessions. That's usually enough time for us to get to know each other, understand what's actually bringing you here, and set some real direction for the work ahead. It's not a fixed rule — just a typical rhythm that tends to give us a strong start and enough momentum to build on.

Curiosity looks good on you.
No pitch, no pressure, just a good conversation to see if this feels right for you.
